Duplex Stainless Steel Globe Valve

Conventional duplex steel globe valves can be used for isolation and throttling services. Although these type of valves exhibit slightly higher pressure drops than straight through valves (e.g., DSS gate valve, plug valve, ball valves etc.), they may be used where the pressure drop through the valve is not a controlling factor to be concern.

The practical size limit for these duplex steel globe valves is NPS 12 (DN 300), because the entire system pressure exerted on the disc is transferred to the valve stem portion, Duplex Steel Globe valves larger than NPS 12 (DN 300) are an exception rather than the rule. Larger valves would require that enormous forces be exerted on the stem to open or close the valve under pressure. Although we have manufactured and supplied up to NPS 48 (DN 1200) size Duplex Stainless Steel Globe valves have been used and it worked properly at the project sight.

DSS Globe valves are extensively employed to control flow. We have method of considering the range of flow control, pressure drop, and duty while the designing of these metal Globe valve in our manufacturing manual to avoid premature failure and to assure satisfactory service to end user. Since all pressure ultimately goes to the trim and stem portion, we give more emphasizes more specially on valve trim designed of the valves, subjected to high-differential pressure-throttling service.

Generally the maximum differential pressure across the valve disc should not be exceeding 20 percent of the maximum upstream pressure or 200 psi (1380 kPa) whichever is less to avert premature failure and to make sure value for money to end user of these valves. Duplex stainless steel Globe Valves with special trim can be designed and manufactured by us for applications exceeding these differential pressure limits.

Tee Pattern or Z body Duplex Steel Globe valves

Tee Pattern or Z body Duplex Steel Globe valves manufactured and supplied by us are the common body type in Globe valves, with a typical Z-shaped diaphragm. In this type of valves, the horizontal setting of the seat allows the stem and disk components to travel perpendicular to the horizontal line. This designed valve has the lowest coefficient of flow and higher pressure drop. These type of valves are used in severe throttling services, such as in bypass pipe lines around a control valve. Duplex steel Tee-pattern Globe valves can be used in applications where pressure drop is not a matter of concern and throttling is required.
